When life hands you lemons...

How exciting it would be to walk into a Relief Society Quaterly Enrichment activity and have it look like this:

I know, I know, we are supposed to keep it simple...but come on, just the attention to detail and simple beauty of it would make my whole week even if the rest of the activity was awful! To me part of serving in the church, is giving it your best and with this "When Life Hands You Lemons...Make Lemonade" activty she certainly did. Now if we could all be as talented as Stephmodo, we'd be set!

Have you seen "Up", the new movie by Disney and Pixar?" I feel totally inspired to do something with balloons now. Check out these inspirational images gathered from Party Perfect
and Martha Stewart

My favorite tip for using balloons for an event comes from Martha:

"For a sophisticated feel, opt for a few large balloons instead of masses of birthday-party-style ones.... "

It looks like party time to me!

Hands on Social Media

I had a wonderful opportunity to attend a “Hands on Social Media” conference (Sponsored by Microsoft Office Live and Kirtsy, Thank you!) earlier this week and it was AWESOME! I am a little clueless when it comes to computers and the latest and greatest of Social networking so this was a great opportunity for me. I am so excited I feel like I just have to share! Here are some of the resources for Social Networking and blogging that were discussed:

Google Reader: now I know a lot of you were already aware of this little gem, but I am just barely catching on.
I love: that you can get updated on everyone’s blogs so quickly!
Struggle: You don’t get to see the cute layouts of each individual blog

Twitter: Can get updates on people or businesses you admire and let people know what is going through your own head
I love: the idea of using it as a link back to your own site
Struggle: You have to learn the lingo in order to use it right
(I have to be honest, I don’t really know if I get it yet. I think this one will take some more convincing!)

Kirtsy: A quick way to find great posts to get inspired. Voting by users and editors so great things are constantly being found.
I love: that anyone can submit and it keeps track of what posts are “favorites”
Struggle: Overwhelming trying to pick and choose where to go

Delicious: Bookmark your favorite sites, stories, or blog entries and organize them with tags for future reference
I love: the quick and easy way to organize what to post on your blog (I am really excited about this!)
Struggle: Getting used to the icons it puts on your tool bar, I don't get how I am supposed to use them all yet.

Microsoft Office Live: Share any Microsoft Office documents to an online network. Its free, password protected and you can use up to 5GB!
I love: The way this will simplify group coordination as all who are given access can edit and that you can access any of your documents from any computer as they will all be found online!
Struggle: Not set up for MAC’s just yet, but they are working on it.
(I really think this is the way of the future! Maybe we will never have to worry about hard drives any more, sweet!)

Other resources to check out:
Google Analytics
Stumble upon
Flicker

I would love to know what else you have come across to streamline your internet time, get organized on the web, or just fun resources that you can’t live without!

Chaz got his mission call!

I am so happy for my little brother Chaz who has decided to serve a mission. He got his call this week!

He’s going to…

I was shocked…

This is way cool…

Johannesburg South Africa!!! He doesn’t leave until October, which is good and bad. Great that we can have some time with him, bad that he is ready to go and he will be stuck in this “Everything is on hold” mode until then. I am sure Heavenly Father knows what he is doing though and knows what he needs. Chaz doesn’t do anything fast, so that is probably just right for him. (I guess it is just me, I would be going nuts!)
Congratulations buddy! I am so proud of you
